Living in Amsterdam

We are now three weeks in the Netherlands and we start feeling at home. Living in Amsterdam is really nice with all the different languages and cultures and people from various parts of society, I like that so much. Did you know that more then 170 nationalities are represented din Amsterdam en is therefor the most multicultural city in the world.

Also on the basis there are many different nationalities. Besides Linda’s DTS there is also a ‘refugee’ DTS and has students from Iran and Africa. Most come from refugee centers and have a special story. Some were already Christian before they came to Holland and others became a christian when a ‘refugees’ DTS visited them on outreach to refugee centers.. It is very beautiful to build a relationship with them and help them out, as one of the boys the day before yesterday received a letter by the immigration office. Because he could not speak Dutch, he asked me to translate, it was a struggle to read the formal dutch and also beacuse he was rejected again and I had to tell him that. The nice thing is that I was right there to support him and pray for him.

I am now fully working and have a 40 + work week. My primary activity is the design of promotional materials for the DTS. It is very fun to do because I like being creative and I can encourage others to start a “career” in missions. The harvest is great, but the workers are few! We also reach out to homeless people like some of you in Perth and about forty of them come every monday for some coffee, cake. It ‘s interesting that there are many young guys of my age who are intelligent living on the streets. They have many questions about God and it’s just great to share with them who God is.

Linda is also very good and has found her place in the group, while the English is difficult sometimes she can understand most of it and that is an answer to prayer, God is doing a deep work in her and she gets to know her calling more and more.
We miss Perth and we hope to see you in the near future,

Michael and Linda
